Venice Architecture
[ID: E131]
Venice is a marvel that continuously confounds, and one has no choice but to succumb to its impossible beauty and genuflect in total submission. The first sounds of the barreling Venetian dialect emanating from every angle as one passes through the railway station is like going through a time portal, and again you get the familiar glimpse of the vaporetto’s churning up swathes of white foam that fill your nostrils from the canal, as they give their courtesy bash off the platform, as if to nudge you from your slumber of normality into the sublime visual experience that is Venice. The eye is continuously caressed and immersed with a liquid symphony of impossible forms of Gothic and Moorish style architecture coming together in a visual orgy of excess. As the late fog of November creeps up from the lagoon, it is as if Venice retreats into herself, as a form of recuperating herself from the visual gaze, she replenishes herself from the damp moisture of the lagoon in preparation for her winter hibernation.
