Florence Architecture
[ID: K028]
While there has been many disparaging comments on this very recognizable work, because of its divergent expression of idealistic and demonic forces, Hercules is the embodiment of satanic power slaying mankind with bestial brutality, is indeed in stark contrast to other work in the piazza della signoria. However it does provide a visible reading of change within the city-state of Florence. By containing it in relation to other statuary in the piazza it provides a juxtaposition of visual contrast.
