             			 Perseus
The mannerist statue of Perseus holding the head of Medusa forms an integral part of the political story of Florence; it is loaded with meaning and power. Apart from its political and contextual story, the skill required in casting such a work with many inherent difficulties is perhaps a real living tribute to Cellini himself, he dared to render the impossible possible. The slim athletic figure stands in a controposto elegance of polished bronze, which is a joy to photograph from any angle it is said that when one perceives a work of art one goes into a direct communion with the maker, I really hope that is true as I have often spent much time in the Loggia dei Lanzi admiring its perfection.
